	<description><![CDATA[Hi - <br />
<br />
I have a new installation which is (mostly) functional, except it has the problem of count.php being nearly the only thing being counted. Everything else is fine.<br />
<br />
I have tried every version of additions to .htaccess (which already contains php_flag register_globals on), and every one stops the remainder of the .shtml page being served... None of the &lt;!--#include virtual='pathname/file' --&gt; will be honoured with anything else in .htaccess, so I am using &lt;!--#include virtual='/pathname/count.php' --&gt; in the body of shared .shtml footers (no page of which has been counted), and again on the home page (which has been counted twice, against 341 counts of count.php and only 1 of the site navigation menu!?!).<br />
<br />
I am not using the the 'REQUEST_URI' fix either (which did not work for me) - just a standard count.php file, without the title line, as per instructions.<br />
<br />
The (fairly large) site is almost entirely .shtml, with some .html (and even some .txt) includes, plus a few perl and php add-ons (forum, etc.).<br />
<br />
I have searched the documentation and this forum, and tried every suggestion. No luck. <br />
<br />
I would be happy first to stop count.php from being counted, then worry about counting .shtml<br />
<br />
Ideas, anyone?<br />
<br />
Thanks in advance.<br />

	<description><![CDATA[I also have a program counting html files, but rather with the path to count.php.<br />
<br />
My server provider says the path is: <br />
/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/<br />
<br />
So the .htaccess file looks like this:<br />
<div class="pre"><pre>AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html
&lt;FilesMatch &quot;\.(html?)$&quot;&gt;
php_value short_open_tag &quot;Off&quot;
php_value auto_append_file &quot;/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php&quot;
&lt;/FilesMatch&gt; </pre></div><br />
<br />
But then, the html pages are not counted, and at the bottom of every html file this is displayed: <br />
<div class="pre"><pre>Warning: Unknown(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs:/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(): open_basedir restriction in effect.

Warning: (null)(): Failed opening '/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0</pre></div><br />
<br />
So I Try the path /var/www/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php, then the error isn't displayed anymore, but the pages aren't counted!<br />

<br />
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html<br />

is the one that solves my problem.<br />

Thanks to you and your knowledge of the program and solutions!<br />

	<description><![CDATA[Hi Rob,<br />
<br />
I have changed the <a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;forum.bbclone.de/index.php?t=rview&amp;th=1572&amp;rid=36" target="_blank">description</a> of the method to use the same naming convention as the manual (i.e. count.php).<br />
<br />
Hope it's clearer now.<br />
<br />
If you still have problems with count.php being counted, and not the page in question, try swapping <br />
<font face="Courier">$_SERVER&#91;'REQUEST_URI'&#93;</font><br />
for<br />
<font face="Courier">getenv('REQUEST_URI')</font><br />
Might work...<br />
<br />
Note that the alternative method still requires that the server parses .htm files for php code. So the .htaccess command<br />
<font face="Courier">AddHandler php-script .htm .html</font><br />
is still needed. &#91;Or <font face="Courier">AddHandler php5-script .htm .html</font> if you're running php5.&#93;<br />
Or<br />
<font face="Courier">AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html</font><br />
if that doesn't work, or finally<br />
<font face="Courier">AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html</font> <br />
as a last resort.<br />
<br />
If you still can't get your .htm files parsed for php, the only thing you can do is change the file names to .php (but that is all you would need to do - the <a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;forum.bbclone.de/index.php?t=rview&amp;th=1572&amp;rid=36" target="_blank">alternative method</a> can then be used as described).<br />

	<description><![CDATA[Not sure about the code (try it and see), but you may find that all your pages are indexed by search engines as the &quot;loader.php&quot; file. Might be bad for rankings. Plus I'm not sure what BBClone would do for titles of pages (again, let us know).<br />
<br />
Can someone confirm this about the rankings? Does ModRewrite serve a 301 (moved) by default?<br />
