Hai there

i have a problem , i have set the settings for 500 detailed visitors but it's only showing 1

i have writing permissions on var in bbclone installation

but still showing 1 visitor

test page shows this

It seems that BBClone has successfully written to file counter4.inc. If you keep getting this message despite access.php and last.php remain empty, it means the file system is denying access and returning a flag PHP doesn't understand. On Windows NT/2k/XP/2k3 the problem will occur with PHP 4.x if the var directory only has read permissions.

Hi -

I have a new installation which is (mostly) functional, except it has the problem of count.php being nearly the only thing being counted. Everything else is fine.

I have tried every version of additions to .htaccess (which already contains php_flag register_globals on), and every one stops the remainder of the .shtml page being served... None of the will be honoured with anything else in .htaccess, so I am using in the body of shared .shtml footers (no page of which has been counted), and again on the home page (which has been counted twice, against 341 counts of count.php and only 1 of the site navigation menu!?!).

I am not using the the 'REQUEST_URI' fix either (which did not work for me) - just a standard count.php file, without the title line, as per instructions.

The (fairly large) site is almost entirely .shtml, with some .html (and even some .txt) includes, plus a few perl and php add-ons (forum, etc.).

I have searched the documentation and this forum, and tried every suggestion. No luck.

I would be happy first to stop count.php from being counted, then worry about counting .shtml

Ideas, anyone?

I also have a program counting html files, but rather with the path to count.php.

My server provider says the path is:
/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/

So the .htaccess file looks like this:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

php_value auto_append_file "/home/httpd/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php"

But then, the html pages are not counted, and at the bottom of every html file this is displayed:

So I Try the path /var/www/vhosts/driesbeyens.be/httpdocs/count.php, then the error isn't displayed anymore, but the pages aren't counted!

I have tried the different codes in .htaccess, and guess what?

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

is the one that solves my problem.

Hi Rob,

I have changed the description of the method to use the same naming convention as the manual (i.e. count.php).

Hope it's clearer now.

If you still have problems with count.php being counted, and not the page in question, try swapping
$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']
for
getenv('REQUEST_URI')
Might work...

Note that the alternative method still requires that the server parses .htm files for php code. So the .htaccess command
AddHandler php-script .htm .html
is still needed. [Or AddHandler php5-script .htm .html if you're running php5.]
Or
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html
if that doesn't work, or finally
AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html
as a last resort.

If you still can't get your .htm files parsed for php, the only thing you can do is change the file names to .php (but that is all you would need to do - the alternative method can then be used as described).

I tried the code, inserted the absolute path in the html files, but the only file counted is the bbclone.php file now. Did I mis something, do we still need the .htaccess file and or count.php file?
For some reason it seems that the php code in the HTML file does not work. Is that possible?

I had problems using the standard .htaccess method; here's what I did to work around the problem:

What I can report so far is that BBClone counts the number of pages visited. Unfortunately all pages are marked as loader.php this means that the name of the visited html page is not shown.
Maybe a stupid suggestion, but is it not possible to call count.php directly from the .htaccess file instead of the loader.php?

Not sure about the code (try it and see), but you may find that all your pages are indexed by search engines as the "loader.php" file. Might be bad for rankings. Plus I'm not sure what BBClone would do for titles of pages (again, let us know).

Can someone confirm this about the rankings? Does ModRewrite serve a 301 (moved) by default?

I am not allowed to alter settings in the PHP configuration through the .htaccess file.
My internet service provider suggested an alternative.
Does anyone knows if next code might work?
